Who doesn’t love to spoil their pet with gifts? All you have to do is look pretty much anywhere in my house or yard to see a billion toys! Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating…only a million…After all, given the undivided love and attention they provide us with don’t they deserve it?!?

However…Whiskers lost his in a matter of days, and the other two made it a few weeks with them.

As I mentioned above, my dogs are experts at figuring out how to get out of the house and the yard! The other day Benson managed to pull the retractable gate on the front porch open…As soon as I heard the noise I went running for the front door! I tend to leave the front door open with the gate closed so the pups can wander in and out and watch the world go by.

As soon as I got to the front I spotted him on the neighbour’s lawn! But Benson has learned that if he comes he will get corralled back into the house. And not without a lot of fuss and wrestling! Turning around and running back into the house with ninja speed I grabbed a block of cheese…Hoping this was a tempting enough treat I went back out to look for him…

And guess what…he was GONE! Somehow my 120+lbs dog disappeared! Walking up and down the row of houses and between them, there was no sight of him…This was the first time he simply vanished like that, usually he will run back and forth in front of the houses and I can spot him! Starting to feel sick to my stomach, finally he was spotted a few houses down! Using the cheese was enough to get him by my side and we got back home without much more fuss.

I’m now looking into buying an Apple AirTag to keep better tabs on my dogs! This way I will be able to tell EXACTLY where they are the next time they manage to escape! It will also give me more peace of mind knowing I can find them quickly. You can get holders for them that attach to your dog’s collar!

5. Furbo

As much as we would like to be, we can’t be with our pets all the time. Particularly with everyone returning to the office. If you want to keep tabs on your dog during the day or when you are out, you may want to consider a Furbo! Be warned though, they can be very addictive to watch!
